I am building my first DPF...for at least the 20th time... and found you through thewares.net. I have built and rebuilt this one many times trying to get it just the way I like it. My challenge currently is how the heck do I get samba working. the samba.dsl thing is new to me, but I've set up samba many times on regular linux distros.

I intend on hooking up a serial IR receiver with lirc so the DPF owner can have more control. The controls I initially am interested in are fwd, back, reload, screen off, screen on, reboot,change brightness, and maybe a change delay script and a display weather script if feasible.

just food for thought. I've had a lot of success writing lirc config files for mythtv, mplayer, etc. so, once I have samba and rsynch working properly i'll set up lirc, post my config files and remote type just in case anyone else is interested.

If anyone has any other ideas of what a remote control should control let me know
